Large Roman Bronze Cooking Pan and Duck-Handled LadleCirca 2nd-3rd Century AD
Description: Exceptionally large thick-walled bronze cooking pan with ladle (kyathos). The bottom of the vessel is nearly flat, sloping gradually up towards the sides. The walls angle inward towards the rim of the vessel and are enhanced on the exterior with three engraved concentric rings. The flat rim is offset slightly by beveling on either side. The interior floor of the vessel has a central impressed dot encircled by two grooves alternating with a raised ring. The ladle has a wide shallow bowl with long slender tapered handle curved at the top and accented with a duck-head finial. Diameter:
