Legion XIIII Military Brick from Carnuntum

Circa 1st-4th Century AD    

 

Length: 4.5 in. (11.0 cm)

Description:  Fragment of a Roman military brick from Carnuntum, Lower Austria, from the Province of Roman Pannonia.  The stamp is readable and crisp. The final letters of the original [LEG X] [I]III G(emina) M(artia Victorix) stamped inscription are well preserved.

Condition: Intact as shown.

Provenance:  Ex-collection Dr. Helmut Zapfe, Austria, who formed one of the largest private collections of Roman military bricks in Austria.
