Lovely Amber Janus-headed Glass VaseCirca 3rd-4th Century AD
Height: 3.5 in. (9cm) Description: Lovely transparent dusky yellow mold-blown flask in the form of two similar chubby child-like faces. The heads are joined at the back and smoothed together. They have similar features including a prominent arched brow, large open eyes, a wide nose, small mouth with parted lips and dimples at the corners and very full, round cheeks. The hair is rendered in three tiers and frames the face down to the chin-line with evenly spaced globules forming individual curls. Flaring folded over rim atop long tubular neck with slight constriction near base. Attractive, well preserved example of an important type. Condition: Intact with attractive silvery irridescence.
