Fine Bronze Roman Youth as AthleteCirca 2nd Century AD
Description: Exquisite work of art in miniature. This highly detailed bronze figure is a fine example of classical style and beauty. The youthful male stands contra-posto. He appears to be holding a haltere or jumping weight, fingers articulated on the right hand. The sensitively detailed head with its full, round face and finely detailed features capably indicate his youthful beauty. He has a small nose, detailed eyes with pupils indicated. His hair is finely molded with soft waves of curls framing his face and covering the back of his neck. He is nude except for a pair of shoes with intricate lacing and a long cloak draped around his neck, cascading down his back. Deep grooves mark the folds of the cloak and indicate a sense of its thickness. Overall youthful, vibrant appearance. Exceptional, well preserved example. Custom stand. Length: 2.5 in. (6.5 cm) Condition: Intact with nicely preserved details and an attractive, smooth patina. Provenance: Formerly a German property. Price: $ 5,000
