Fainence Ram-Headed Deity (Khnum) AmuletCirca Late Period, 664-323 BC
Description: Finely detailed blue faience amulet of the ram-headed deity Khnum in a walking pose, hands at his sides, with a kilt worn round his waist. The face is articulated with eyes, nose, mouth and ears well defined. He wears a typical headdress. Saite period. Excellent example with a pedigree provenance. Height: 1.7 in. (4.4 cm) Condition: Complete, a horizontal break at the knees professionally conserved. Provenance: Formerly in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, #94.267, which was acquired as a Gift of Mrs. Perry, wife of Edward Perry Warren who was one of the great benefactors of the museum in the late 19th century.
