Fall 2004 Catalogue Features Rare Pottery and Bronzes

MEDFIELD, MA (October 2004) – Fragments of Time, Inc., a leading international dealer in museum-quality ancient art, today announced availability of Art from the Ancient World XXXII, a full-color and authoritatively researched catalogue highlighting more than 65 provenanced ancient objects from its inventory.

The catalogue features a number rare objects in pottery including a fine Attic kylix with a red-figure symposium scene, a large Lucanian vase published by A.D. Trendall, a rare thin-walled bowl from 1st century Petra, a rare Roman lead-glazed askos in imitation of metal, and and a very large bronze Romano-British drinking vessel from the Nene Valley.

In addition, a variety of fine bronzes are features including several early brooches, a Geometric Greek horse circa 7th century BC, a fine athletic strigil, and an exceptional pair of yoked bulls from Roman Anatolia which grace the cover of the catalogue.

For more than 10 years, company founder John Ambrose, who had previously spent 15 years as a private collector in Europe and the USA, has been one of the few American antiquities dealers publishing quarterly, fully researched and illustrated, fixed-price catalogues dedicated to fine antiquities.  Fragments of Time enjoys an international reputation for quality antiquities, scholarly expertise, competitive prices, and unrivalled service.

In addition to a variety of classical Greek, Roman, Hellenistic and Italic objects, Catalogue XXXI also includes a selection of Near East, Holyland, Cypriot and Anglo-Saxon, and Byzantine.

“The number one challenge for antiquities collectors today is supply. The total number of objects is finite and demand is rising," said John Ambrose, director of Fragments of Time. "Selection is far more limited than 10 years ago. Fortunately, we have an extensive inventory of quality objects from which to draw, ensuring that we continue to offer our clients the very best at extremely competitive prices."

Fragments of Time quarterly catalogues are consistently rated among the best in the antiquities field and are used by collectors, scholars and museums as reference works. A complimentary catalogue is available upon request at www.fragmentsoftime.com or by calling (508) 359-0090. An annual subscription is just $15 in the continental US and is free to clients who make at least one purchase per year.
