Bronze Age 'Star Chart' Discovered
While the Egyptians were known to have studied the heavens during the Bronze Age, there is little proof that their neighbors to the north in Central Europe did the same.
That could change based on a new find in Sangerhausen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.
According to Germany's Express newspaper, a 16-inch bronze bowl weighing almost 5 pounds has markings on it that archaeologists believe depict a Bronze Age astronomical chart.
The object, sold by the original finders, then sold again to a private collector could well turn out to have a significant impact on European cultural history.
