Bronze Owl Fixture, ex: Mildenberg CollectionCirca 1st-2nd Century AD
Description: Rare bronze fixture in the form of an owl with a round full body, wide outstretched wings and tapered legs that form a round base in place of talons. Incised with short fluffy feathers. A lively stylized face with large round eyes and a beak that forms a loop. Pointed tufts atop the head. The back is hollow with two rivets through the wings for attachment to a chest or vessel. Height: 1.25 in. (3.2 cm) Condition: Intact with crisp detail and smooth dark patina. Provenance: Formerly in the Leo Mildenberg Collection of Animals in Ancient Art.
