New! Catalog XV Mailed to Subscribers
Continuing its tradition of high-quality, full-color catalogues which in themselves are mini-reference works, Fragments of Time is pleased to announce availability of its new catalogue, Art from the Ancient World XV. The catalogue contains nearly 50 objects representing a diverse array of cultures, materials and prices. Also included is a special selection of fine Athenian pottery in both red-figure and black-figure. "There is currently a serious shortage of high quality objects available on the antiquities market. Buyers should not hesitate when they see a striking object at a fair price," commented John Ambrose, founder and director of Fragments of Time. "We are proud to have assembled a premium collection of objects from our inventory, many of which are of types that are unlikely to be seen on the market again for five or ten years." The catalogue includes a spectacular Etruscan bucchero olpe decorated around the belly with an animal frieze. The object is identical, but in better condition, than one in the Ashmoleon at Oxford University in England.
Also included are a silver Roman "S" shaped brooch of the highest craftsmanship, and a large Apulian bell krater published by AD Trendall and decorated with a horse head (obverse) and Eros (reverse). The krater was formerly in an important Australian collection.
