The Diniacopoulos Collection: A Fragments of Time Exclusive

As archaeologists working in Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Syria and across the Near East until World War II, Vincent Diniacopoulos (1886-1967) and his wife Olga Nicolas (1906-2000) were able to amass a truly remarkable collection of antiquities.

Over the course of ninety years, their collection passed through Egypt, Greece, France, England, the United States and finally Canada.

Soon after their arrival in Montreal in the 1950s, Canadian Art magazine declared that one of the most important private collections of ancient art had arrived in Canada.

Prior to Madame Diniacopoulos' passing in 2000, a number of significant antiquities from the collection were consigned and sold through Sotheby's New York. Fragments of Time is pleased to have been chosen to assist with the disbursement of the remaining portion of this important private collection assembled 1910-1932 and 1954.

The bulk of the collection has been offered by Fragments of Time in a color, fully-catalogued mail bid sale that closed June 1, 2001. A small number of objects not included in the catalogue have been posted on Sothebys.com.

A portion of the proceeds from these sales conducted by Fragments of Time will benefit future generations of scholars at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada where their son had been a professor for many years.
