Enameled Geometric BroochesCirca 1st-2nd Century AD
Description: Two bronze enameled brooches of geometric form with remnants of the original enamel. Item a) is a lozenge brooch with round lugs at each corner. Within the border is a second smaller lozenge with central lug. Colored traces of orange, blue, green and white enamel. Large arched hinged pin and catchplate. Item b) is a disc brooch with a ribbed border, six protruding circular lugs and a central riveted boss. Central field and lugs have traces of blue, red and white enamel. Hinge and catchplate on back. Height: a): 1.25 in. (3.2 cm) b): 1.8 in. (4.6 cm) Provenance: Both brooches were formerly a German property. Condition: Intact as shown. Item b) is missing the pin.
