Faience 'Thoth as Baboon' Amulet

Circa 1070-712 BC 

Description:  Colorful faience amulet of Thoth in the form of a seated baboon with full and crescent moon headdress.  The amulet is accented with turquoise, white and black.  Charming face with distinct eyes, nose and mouth in relief.  Some texture to indicate fur on the body.  Suspension loop behind the headdress.  Integral rectangular base in white.  Very appealing.

Height:  1.5 in. (3.4 cm) 

Condition:  Intact.

Provenance:  Formerly a French property.
