Circa 664-525 BC

Description:  Rare turquoise-glazed faience triple wedjat eye.  The amulet is rendered in raised relief on both sides with three stylized elliptical-shaped wedjats stacked on top of each other.  Within the sunken area of each eye us a raised pupil accented with black glaze.  Each eye is pierced horizontally for suspension.  Uncommon intact example with nicely preserved glaze.

Height:  1.1 in. (2.7 cm)

Condition:  Intact.

Provenance:  Once a property of the Royal Athena Galleries.

Background: During the Third Intermediate Period, examples of multiple wedjat eyes appear, in belief that more protection would be bestowed upon the wearer.
