Archaeologists Find "World's Oldest Village"

The Sunday Times of London reported on September 21 that an historic drought in Israel has led to the discovery of what some are saying could be the world's "oldest village."

The village was discovered in the parched bed on the southwestern shore of the Sea of Galilee and dates to the end of the early Stone Age. Archaeologists believe the settlement to be 20,000 years old.

Most incredibly, the settlement has been described as nearly intact with "huts, tools and fireplaces" plus many other small artifacts found in situ, exceptionally preserved by the water.

According to the Times, one skeleton of a man of approximately 5-feet tall who lived to 40 was also found. Only one other skeleton attributed to this early period has ever been discovered in Israel.
