At the time the book was published, this two volume set aimed to document and classify all the known red-figured vases from these regions. Some 4,500 vases are included, most attributed to individual painters or stylistic groups. The catalogue of each painter's work is preceded by a brief introduction in which the characteristic features of his style are noted, together with some references to the available evidence for the date and connections between him and his contemporaries. Volume I features the text in more than 700 pages. Volume II includes multiple indexes and more than 250 plates featuring photos of more than 1,000 vases! An absolute must-have reference for the collector of Greek vases. This two-volume set is rarely seen on the market. When it is, it easily commands prices of $1,000-$1,200! Fine condition. Volume I is complete with dust jacket. Minor shelf wear, both otherwise a clean, nice, tight copy. One set only!
