Luxury Hotel Found at Pompeii?

Archaeologists excavating a portion of Pompeii untouched for the past 40 years have come across a series of stunningly preserved Roman frescoes depicting mythological deities, according to CNN and other news agencies.

The frescoes depict Calliope, the Greek muse of epic poetry, Erato, the muse of lyric and erotic poetry, and Urania, the muse of astronomy. The scenes were freshly painted at the time of the Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD and are said to be extremely well preserved.

The frescoes were discovered on the walls of a building located just beyond the walls of Pompeii. Archaeologists speculate the building may have been a luxury hotel.
