Near Eastern Alabaster Eye IdolCirca 4th-3rd Millennium BC
Description: Flat incised eye idol of smooth white alabaster. The figure has a squared body tapered toward the top. From the top of the body two bulbous eyes protrude upward incised with pupilled almond-shaped eyes and arched conjoined eyebrows. Small sunken diamond-shaped area between the eyes and the body. Height: 1.3 in. (3.6 cm) Condition: Intact with smooth creamy surface. Custom stand. Provenance: Formerly in an East Coast private collection.
