Neolithic Stone Tools
Circa 8000-4000 BC
Description: Two Neolithic alabaster flake-tools from
Israel. Both are rounded scrapers used to scrape the hides of animals. They have
creamy polished surfaces with well-defined edges. Item b) has an area where the
stone has been left rough.
Avg. Length: 1.6 in. (3.1 cm)
Condition: Intact.
Provenance: Formerly in the Professor Levenstein Collection, Haifa,
Israel prior to 1955.
Exhibited: Previously on loan to the Herzelia Museum in
Tel-Aviv. Each is marked with museum identification numbers.
