Two Neo-Babylonian Bronze Stamp Seals - Rare!

Circa 6th-5th Century BC

Description:  Two bronze pyramidal stamp seals with dark green patina. Pierced for suspension with remnants of a bronze tang in each. Item a) is engraved with an upright palm frond with four leaves on each side. Item b) is engraved with two stylized human figures facing each other with a tree or palm frond between them. Two fine examples of a scarce type.  FOT Inv: 206.0037 and 206.0038.

Height:  a): 0.9 in. (2.4 cm) and b): 0.75 in. (1.7 cm) 

Condition:  Both intact with fine surface.

Provenance:  Formerly in the Hans Silvius Aulock Collection.

Published:  As nos. 174 and 175 respectively in Altorientalische Siegelsteine der Sammlung Hans Silvius Aulock (Sweden 1957) by Hans Hennig von der Osten.
