Description:
Three wonderful, and wearable early
Christian artifacts. Item a) is in the form of a cross with four equally sized arms each terminating in a suspension loop and was likely used as a pendant attachment for a lamp or other liturgical
object; item b) is a pendant cross with flared arms decorated with a punched dot;
and item c) is a pendant cross with ornate incised geometric design. Lovely patina on each.
Length: 1.2-1.4 in (3.0-3.4 cm)
Condition:
All are intact.
Provenance: All
were formerly a German property.

Background: These
small containers secured a chord embedded in wax to protect documents from
tampering during delivery.
