Dutch Archaeologists Unearth Roman Ship

Dutch archaeologists have discovered and are excavating a beautifully preserved Roman ship on the outskirts of Utrecht. The ship is thought to be of the 'Zwammerdam-type," i.e., a transport ship, probably dating to the 2nd century AD.  It is thought to have sunk as a result of some sort of calamity and probably was loaded with its ancient cargo at the time.

The Council for Dutch Archaeology (S.N.A.) has taken the initiative to position webcameras above the excavation pit.  Those interested can watch the ship slowly reveal its long held pictures of life aboard ship... visit http://www.romeinsschip.nl
