Dutch Archaeologists Unearth Roman ShipDutch archaeologists have discovered and are excavating a beautifully
preserved Roman ship on the outskirts of Utrecht. The ship is thought to be of
the 'Zwammerdam-type," i.e., a transport ship, probably dating to the 2nd
century AD. It is thought to have sunk as a result of some sort of
calamity and probably was loaded with its ancient cargo at the time.
