First Egyptian Tomb of the 17th Dynasty UncoveredA joint team of Egyptian and German archaeologists have unearthed the first even royal tomb dating to the 17th Dynasty.
The tomb is believed to belong to Nub-Kheper-Ra Intef, a monarch of the late 17th Dynasty, whose heirs repelled foreign invaders and ultimately helped usher in the period known as the "New Kingdom" in Egyptian history.
The remnants of the tomb consist of the lower part of a mud-brick pyramid enclosed by a mud brick wall. A toppled life-size head of the pharaoh was found in front of the pyramid near the burial shaft.
