Roman Baths Uncovered in SinaiA team of excavators has discovered at the site of Tel Louli north Sinai an archaeological public baths that date back to the Roman Age i.e. {the third century AD. )The find which was made this season was a part of further discoveries that included an administrative and housing agglomeration south of the baths. These units made of sun-dried brick were allocated for individuals working at the baths. Archaeologist Refaat Al Gendi said they found, inside units of the agglomeration a collection of bronze and copper coins which, when cleaned were expected to reveal more details about the history of the site. Mr. Al Gendi also said that the site also yielded a number of earth en pots, glass items, heads of spears and earthen lamps in addition to furnaces to serve the baths. Tel Al Louli, added Al Gendi proved to be full of surprises. In this same season a huge circular shaped reservoir built of red brick was moreover found. The reservoir built to serve the housing area lying in the vicinity of the baths is provided with steps and a hole to dispose of the water. |
